FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Prices, timing, parts, warranty and your data — answered plainly. Can’t find yours? Ask us on WhatsApp.

Prices & payment

Do your prices include VAT?
Yes. Every price on this website is in Saudi riyals and already includes 15% VAT and fitting. Nothing is added at the counter.
Is the price on the website the final price?
For the parts listed (screen, battery, keyboard, trackpad) — yes, for that model. If we find a second fault during inspection, we call you with the price and only continue after you agree.
Do I pay for the inspection?
We tell you the price before any work starts. If an inspection fee applies to your case, you'll know it before you leave the device with us.
If you can't fix it, do I still pay?
You never pay for a repair we couldn't complete.
Can I get a VAT invoice for my company?
Yes. Every repair comes with a ZATCA-compliant tax invoice, and we can issue it in your company's name with its VAT number.

Timing & booking

How long does a MacBook repair take?
Batteries, software and cleaning are usually done the same day. Screens and logic boards usually take 1–2 days, depending on part availability.
Do I need an appointment?
No — you can walk into either branch. Booking ahead on WhatsApp lets us have the part ready, which often makes it a same-day job.
Which branch should I visit?
Both branches offer the same repairs and prices. Al-Mursalat is in Surraya Computer Market on King Abdulaziz Road; Olaya is in Saif Group Computer Market on Olaya Street.
How do I know when my device is ready?
You get a receipt with a job number when you drop it off, and we message you on WhatsApp when it's ready. You can message us the job number at any time for an update.
Do you offer pickup and delivery?
Yes. We arrange courier pickup and return across Saudi Arabia — message us on WhatsApp and we'll book it.

Parts & warranty

Do you use original parts?
We use original or original-pulled parts wherever they're available, and high-quality parts otherwise. We always tell you which part you're getting, and its price, before we fit it.
What warranty do I get?
Every repair carries a 90-day warranty from the date on your repair invoice, covering the part we fitted and our work. The one exception is screen (LCD) replacement, which carries 30 days. Keep the invoice — it is your warranty card.
What does the warranty not cover?
New physical or liquid damage after the repair, and devices opened or repaired by someone else after us.
Are you an Apple Authorised Service Provider?
No. Mak Doctor is an independent repair centre that specialises in Apple devices. If your Mac is still under Apple warranty or AppleCare, check with Apple first — a third-party repair can affect that coverage.
Will my Mac show an 'unknown part' message?
Newer Macs can list a replaced part in System Settings → General → About. It's a notice only; the part works normally. We tell you in advance if it applies to your repair.

Your data & privacy

Is my data safe with you?
Yes. We don't open, copy or browse your files. If a repair requires erasing the drive, we ask you first.
Do you need my password?
Only to test the Mac after the repair. If you'd rather not share it, create a temporary guest account, or test it with us at the counter.
Should I back up before I bring it?
Always, if the Mac still turns on — Time Machine or iCloud. If it won't turn on, tell us the data matters and we'll treat it as a data-recovery job.
Can you remove an iCloud or Activation Lock?
No. Activation Lock can only be removed by the owner's Apple ID or by Apple with proof of purchase. We don't bypass security locks.

Common problems

How do I find my exact MacBook model?
Apple menu → About This Mac shows the name and year (for example 'MacBook Air 13-inch, M2, 2022'). The model number, such as A2681, is printed under the Mac near the hinge. Our model finder accepts either.
My MacBook won't charge. Is it the charger, the port or the board?
Try another charger and both USB-C sides first. If it still won't charge, bring it in — we test all three separately so you only pay for what's broken.
My Mac is hot and the fan is loud. Is cleaning enough?
On Intel Macs and iMacs, an internal clean and fresh thermal paste fixes most cases. If the heat comes from a failing component, we'll find it during the service.
I spilled water on my MacBook. What should I do?
Switch it off, unplug it, don't charge it, and bring it in the same day. Don't use rice — it doesn't reach the board.
Is it worth repairing an old Mac?
Often yes — a battery or SSD can add years. If a repair costs more than the Mac is worth, we'll say so and can offer to buy it or trade it in.
Do you repair Mac mini, Mac Studio and Windows laptops?
Yes. Apple devices are our speciality, and we also repair Windows laptops such as Dell, Lenovo and HP.
Do you sell or buy used Macs?
Yes. We sell fully checked used Macs with a battery-health report, buy your current Mac, or take it as part payment for another one.
